The Ark is delighted to bring you details of our forthcoming professional
development workshop for teachers. This is part of our Theatre-Maker in
Residence 2010: Inspire new theatre for generations.
Louis Lovett is the first ever Theatre-Maker in Residence at The Ark, A Cultural
Centre for Children. He has a long association with The Ark as a writer, director
and actor, having performed over 500 times on The Ark stage. Louis is also one
of Ireland’s most experienced performers for children and his work crosses
over both theatre for adults and theatre for young people.
This practical professional development workshop led by Louis Lovett
is open to all teachers who are interested in drama and theatre practice.
The focus of the workshop will be on physical theatre and how it might be applied
in the classroom. Physical theatre is any mode of performance that pursues storytelling
through primarily physical means.
THE WORKSHOP
Participants will be invited to a performance of The Girl
who Forgot to Sing Badly presented by The Ark, in association with Theatre
Lovett, which runs until Sunday 7 March.
“chock full with playfulness and rich ideas. ...... Lovett makes
the experience seem as natural and interactive as a warm hug”
