A UNIQUE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR ACTORS

The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children is delighted to announce that during 2010 Louis Lovett will spend part of the year working as The Ark’s first ever Theatre Maker in Residence.

The Ark continually aspires to raise the profile of children’s theatre by being an international exemplar of good practice. At the heart of The Ark’s programming vision is the belief in providing the best possible opportunities that will ensure our young audiences have quality theatre experiences.

As part of the Theatre Maker Residency, The Ark and Louis, in association with Theatre Forum, are providing a training course for actors interested in theatre for children and family audiences.

Louis Lovett has a long association with The Ark as a writer, director and actor, having performed over 500 times on The Ark stage. Louis is also one of Ireland’s most experienced performers for young people and his work crosses over both theatre for adults and theatre for young people.

Over eight days, actors will be introduced to physical theatre as applied specifically to theatre for children and family audiences. Louis’ own unique style of physical theatre embraces the spirit of play - an essential component for any practitioner in providing quality theatre experiences for audiences of any age.
