Capital Support

The Ark is housed on the site of the former Presbyterian Meeting House (1728) and incorporates the carefully restored front facade of the church. The Ark was designed by Group ê91 Architects.

The development of The Ark was an initiative of Temple Bar Properties as part of its cultural policy and was financed by the European Regional Development Funds and by the Irish Government through the Department of the Environment.

Public Support

The Ark depends heavily on support from the public sector to meet current costs. This comes mainly from the Arts Council and from the Department of Education and Science. Additional support comes from Dublin Corporation.

Foundations and Diplomatic

The Atlantic Philanthropies, The Irish Youth Foundation, The Ireland Funds and The Gulbenkian Foundation are generous supporters of The Ark.

The British Institute, Goethe Institute, Italian Cultural Institute and the French Embassy have also provided welcome support to visiting artists.
