Earth Explorers is growing by the day!
Earth Explorers is now open and parts of it are growing before our very eyes!

Join The Ark Gardeners in the Garden Party. Professional artists Liz Smith, Orla Kelly and Gina Faustino will lead you in a forty minute workshop where you will make and plant your own piece of art.

Your artwork will be inspired by nature and all the colourful creatures, plants and animals found in everyday gardens, lush countryside and wild rainforests. Each week, one of The Ark Gardeners will show you how to make fruit, birds, creepy crawlies and even printed, felted or animal flowers! Watch how this indoor garden grows over the coming weeks as more pieces of garden art are added by children everyday!

The Garden Party workshops take place all summer long in The Ark's theatre from Thursdays to Saturdays at 10.30am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm and on Sundays at 2pm and 3pm.

Join us to help our garden blossom!

One of our new exhibition artists Veronica Forsgren’s striking installation on the ground floor will also be changing over the summer. Veronica makes these vibrant leaves and flowers out of collected pieces of plastic packaging such as empty crisp packets, bottle tops - and even used McDonald's cartons! She will continue collecting these over the summer and adding to her artwork over the coming weeks.

Upstairs on the first floor of The Ark, some other artworks are continuing to grow! Artist Maggie Madden's miniature cityscape has real roof top gardens, with edible plants such as wheatgrass and watercress growing at an incredible rate every day. It might look different when you come to visit...

See if you can recognise any of the plants in Ashleigh Downey's piece How does your garden grow?. Ashleigh, The Ark's Visual Arts Programmer, has planted fragrant edible herbs and plants that could be found in your garden. Keep a look out for any insects that might be living in this lovely collection of pots and plants!

You can make your own Micro Garden with artist Kitty Rogers this weekend in the Saturday workshops for 3 - 5 year olds and Sunday workshops for all the family. Plant your own edible seeds in specially decorated pots. Bring them home and watch them grow!

Earth Explorers is at The Ark until 15 August. For more information contact our Box Office at 01.6707788 or visit our Earth Explorers programme page http://www.ark.ie/programme/event003.html
