Culture Night will take place on Friday 25 September, a night of entertainment,
discovery and adventure in Dublin city as over 120 arts and cultural organisations
open their doors until late with hundreds of free events, tours, talks and
performances for you, your family and friends to enjoy.
As part of Dublin’s annual Culture Night, The Ark will join arts organisations
throughout Dublin by opening its doors late into the evening to give you
the opportunity to visit our award-winning building.
Free events, open to everyone, will run at The Ark in short sessions for
visitors to enjoy. No booking required. Tickets will be allocated on a first
come, first served basis and are subject to availability.
The Ark has a range of exciting events for Culture Night.
In the gallery, The Ark will present a small exhibition
of group art works made by participating children and young people from Earth
Explorers, Summer Visual Arts Programme 2009. The exhibition is open from
5pm – 10pm.
In the workshop, there will be free visual arts workshops
with professional artist, Gina Faustino who previously worked with The Ark
during Earth Explorers. The workshops will commence at 5pm; 5.30pm;
6pm; 6.30pm and 7pm. Each workshop will last for 15 minutes.
In the theatre, Join award-winning company junk ensemble
as they perform excerpts from The Rain Party from 6.30pm – 9pm.
junk ensemble’s previous work with The Ark includes Grounded and
workshops during The Ark and Dublin Dance Festival Children’s Season
2008. Watch identical twins remember things in reverse, play with goldfish
memory and dance in wellies. Performances are 15 minutes long and will commence
at 6.30pm; 7pm; 7.30pm; 8pm and 8.30pm.
Join Eina McHugh, The Ark’s Director in conversation at 8pm and 9pm
where she will answer your questions and welcome your ideas about The Ark.

The Ark staff will provide tours of the building from 9pm – 10pm.
The Ark is housed on the site of a former Presbyterian Meeting House and
is home to an indoor theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre, gallery spaces and
a workshop, designed for children, in the heart of Dublin’s Cultural
Quarter.
