As part of Dublin’s annual Culture Night, The Ark will join other
arts organisations throughout Dublin by opening its doors late into the evening
of Friday 19 September to give you the opportunity to visit our award-winning
building. Free events will run in short sessions for visitors to wander through
and take part in the fun.
Join us for Paper Planery with popular children’s author Oliver Jeffers,
based on his new book The Great Paper Caper! This series of 15 minute
plane making and flying sessions will run between 5.30pm and 7pm while Oliver
may be doing a drawing or two in between the folding, hanging and flying!
Oliver has won many awards including the Nestlé Children's Book Prize
Gold Award, the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award and the Irish Children's
Book of the Year. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to meet Oliver,
in his only public appearance in Dublin, and make planes with him!
Later in the evening why not come to our fun family session with acclaimed
bodhrán player and percussionist Robbie Harris who will be performing
with Sean-nós dancer Mick Donegan. Ark favourite Robbie Harris returns
having previously delighted audiences in Elements, The Little Bang and Zeppfest whilst
Mick recently appeared on RTÉ’s Celebrity Jigs & Reels.
This session will take place every 20 minutes from 7 - 9pm.
This is a free event, open to everyone, with no booking required.
The Ark is housed on the site of a former Presbyterian Meeting House and
is home to an indoor theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre, gallery spaces and
a workshop, designed for children, in the heart of Dublin’s Cultural
Quarter.
