Mandscape is an exhibition of images of landscape where mankind is present, or where mankind has left a trace on the landscape. First exhibited in the Sligo Art Gallery in spring 2007, Mandscape continues with the national tour in Axis Arts Centre, Ballymun, Dublin.
Mandscape is accompanied by a textured programme of events where artists will take you through an explorative journey of the exhibition with ‘hands-on’ workshops that respond to the urban or rural environment of each venue. Talks and seminars will explore the individual experience of contemporary visual artists and their work. All participating children will be given a poster and exhibition guide.
Brendan Neiland and Joy Gerrard will be taking part in artists’ talks at Axis Arts Centre on Thursday 6 December.
Mandscape features works by contemporary artists Brian Bourke, Oliver Comerford, Daniel de Chenu, Michael Durand, Martin Gale, Joy Gerrard, Nickie Hayden, Clare Langan, Brendan Neiland and Barbara Rae. Curated by Martin Drury, founding director of The Ark.
Mandscape is supported by The Touring Experiment, an initiative of the Arts Council. This is a two year action research project designed to inform and shape future policy for touring in the Republic of Ireland.
