kids' own Publishing Partnership in association with The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children presents

Beneath the Surface

Beneath the Surface is an exhibition produced by Kids’ Own Publishing Partnership in Sligo. It arises out of a cross-border artists-in-schools programme, the Trading Places/ C.R.E.A.T.E project, which took place between 2003–2006. That project sought to reconnect communities once connected through the Irish linen industry and to utilise the power of technologies and the visual arts to explore and communicate cultural diversity. The exhibition features work by the original 11 artists and primary schools involved and showcases this truly ground-breaking project. The artists [Yvonne Cullivan, Julie Forrester, Angela Ginn, Ann Henderson, Sharon Kelly, Nicola Curry, Andrew Livingstone and Anna Reitberger] will lead workshops in drawing, collage, animation, photography and dance, based on the exhibition and its themes. Detailed schedule available from The Ark box office. Children’s work arising from these workshops will become part of a multi-media installation on the third floor of The Ark, and so part of the evolving Beneath the Surface story.
