Two field mice, Biscuit and Frenzly, enjoy the glorious sunshine of the summer but face a winter of hardship hidden in a hole at the base of a tree. Biscuit, ever practical, collects food to sustain them over the coming months.

Frenzly, the daydreamer, collects memories and pictures of beautiful things to cheer them through the cold winter. When their food runs out, the mice feed on their store of treasured tales of spring, summer and autumn, weaving for us their winter pictures… By seeing and hearing their memories, secrets, fears and their dreams, this gentle, poetic performance touches on experiences which are at the centre of the lives of many little children – friendship, fear of being lost, being naughty and being good, and hopes and dreams.

Winter Pictures was originally devised by Arad Goch in 1990. One of the company’s most popular shows, it has now been re-created in a joint venture with The Ark, Dublin and glór, Ennis. Accompanied by a score of live music composed especially for this production by Emer Mayock. Directed by Jeremy Turner.

Before Winter Pictures arrives at The Ark, it will tour to schools and arts centres in Wales from 14 September to 3 November. Winter Pictures can also be seen at glór Irish Music Centre, Ennis on Monday 20 November 12pm & 7pm, Tuesday 21 November 10am & 12pm.
