Visual Arts Intern | Job Description
The Ark looks to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and creative Visual Arts
Intern to assist with general programme administration. The successful candidates
will have a keen interest in the visual arts and administration. Please note
this position is unpaid and unable to support travel expenses.
The Ark is currently seeking applicants for the following intern position:
a Visual Arts Intern for 31st May – 31st July
The Visual Arts Intern will assist the Visual Arts Programmer with:
Main Duties
- General administrative assistance, as specified by the Visual Arts Programmer
- Ordering, sorting and replacing workshop materials, as specified by the Visual Arts Programmer
- Filing & Documenting; to include creating files, filing of paperwork and past programmes
- Assisting the documenting of the Summer Visual Arts programme through photography and archiving
- Assisting The Ark staff in the maintenance of an environment which is
welcoming, safe and secure for children and young people
Other Possible Duties
- Assisting the artists in the daily preparation and clear up of the workshop area
- Working under the guidance of the artists and with the children during the workshops
- Research development for future programmes
Person Specific
- A professional, calm and enthusiastic disposition
- Microsoft Works competent
- A qualification and/or experience in art administration preferable
- An understanding of the Visual Arts
- A keen photographic eye / ability, an advantage
- The ability to work as part of a dedicated team
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English
- Ideally, but not essentially, experience of working in child-centred
environments
Dates: First Internship: 31st May – 31st
July
Times: 5 days per week, 9.30am – 5.30pm
Dates & Times to be confirmed between both parties
An element of flexibility towards working hours is required.
Some weekend and/or evening work may be required, for example, when there are
weekend workshops taking place and an assistant is required.
